Just before we left Brisbane, in our crazy packing week, we decided to head out on a dinner date. Completely ready for a glass of wine, we thought we would give the free wines app a try (free wine, yes please!), so we popped into one of their partnering restaurants, Mecca Bah in Fortitude Valley. Find out more about our experience using the app, eating at the restaurant AND win a $100 restaurant voucher valid Australia wide.
The Free Wines App
The premise of the Free Wines App is that if you spend over $100 at one of their partner restaurants you receive a free bottle of wine with your meal. To find a partner restaurant, open Free Wines App, choose a cuisine, price or location to search and it will provide you with numerous restaurants to choose from. Click on the restaurant and it details the estimated prices, cuisine, dining style and place of the restaurant (as you can see above).
Most restaurants have two wines that you can choose from. To match our middle eastern cuisine we chose the Clairault Cabernet Sauvignon. It was very enjoyable and had won numerous awards. The only down side to using the app was that two of the wait staff didn’t know what we were talking about (it is a relatively new app)and had to check with the manager. All was fine thereafter.
Mecca Bah Brisbane
The service here seemed to fairly quick and the staff were friendly. The seating was a little close together although the food made up for that. It reminded me of being in Dubai, it was exquisite and refreshing to have a cuisine we don’t often eat. To be honest I was surprised that Mecca Bah was only rated 3.6/5 on Zomato (previously Urbanspoon).
Our menu selection
Mecca Bah dips and Turkish bread (3pc)
Sweet potato falafels with tahini sauce (6pc)
Moroccan potato cakes filled with goats cheese & pinenuts (4pc) – I could live on these – amazing!!
Vine leaf wrapped barramundi fillets char grilled with hummus, parsley, artichoke & olive salad
Spit roasted lamb, rocket, yoghurt & sumac
