Yesterday, 20 of Nuffnang Australia’s top bloggers and myself landed in Dubai. Instead of waltzing off the flight like the confident Carrie Bradshaw, I struggled to guide my heavy suitcase, hold comprehensible conversation with my fellow bloggers and I can guarantee you, my pyjama looking pants ‘fat pants’ were certainly not to be found in Carrie’s wardrobe.
Perhaps my arrival was not as glamorous as I envisaged it, but I can say I was comfortable during the flight and at 5.30am at the airport, there isn’t really anyone to impress! We hardly even went through ‘customs’, I don’t think anyone was working yet!
I may not have impressed Dubai, however it did not fail to impress me. We were served fresh orange juice in the lobby of the The Shangri-La Dubai, given our keys and we made our way up to our room. We arrived just in time to watch the burnt sun rise in all its glory above the dessert city.
Someone was caught in the act of eating the chocolates for breakfast. Clearly he had not yet seen the buffet that awaited us down stairs!
Our room is like a beautiful one bedroom apartment. Remember our room from our trip to Hilton Melbourne? Well it’s similar to that but slightly bigger. So far the service has been of equal standard, although a few language barriers when speaking with the staff. They all speak english very well but there has been a little confusion when requesting certain things from room service etc. Although this is to be expected in another country and is all a part of the adventure!
The shower is stunning – if I ever build a house, I am noting this waterfall like shower head is something I want! The decadent flowers in the bathroom add to the elegance of the marble walled bathroom.
