What a whirlwind the last 5 weeks since giving birth have been. When you’re up every 2-3 hours at night and feeding every 1.5 hours during the day, all the days seem to roll into one! I’ve loved breast feeding for bonding time but it’s also left me quite tense in the shoulders. My back’s been a little sore from wearing the baby carrier (Finn loves it!) but after a while it takes a toll on my back. So I’ve been trying to find new ways to both reduce muscle tension and give me some ‘me time’ throughout the day. This accupressure mat and pillow has been a wonderful way to take 10 minutes out for that. Read more below about how it works and enter the easy giveaway to win one yourself!
Looking a bit like a bed of nails (in fact that’s the inspiration behind the product!), this mat and pillow has a over 8000 tiny plastic spikes that when laid upon, act as accupressure points, increasing blood flow to the skin, easing muscle tension and stimulating the release of endorphins.
I was a little apprehensive to lay on this mat at first as the spikes feel very sharp. However, I was very surprised that once I settled in it really is quite comfortable! The research on the effectiveness of these mats reducing pain relief is limited, however I think that if it was mild back/neck pain regular use would likely help. If nothing else it is helping prevent built up tension by encouraging you to rest for 10-20 minutes a day! A great time to switch your brain off & relax or meditate on something positive.
This mat and pillow was gifted to me by White Lotus.
