2018 is rounding down and with it so are my energy levels. There’s been a lot on my plate this year with Reis away on deployment, then coming home, living between two cities, seeing Reis mostly on weekends, getting Finn into a day care program (he just started going two short days a week), and then of course keeping up the beast that I love, but is always hungry, my blog!
I’ve enjoyed a lot of things about this year, but I have found that, the end of the year has brought a lot of mental fatigue. This means that I’ve had less creative thinking space to organise and plan my exercise and healthy eating routines, let alone find space for meditation and mental focus. SO, I decided it’s finally time to bite the bullet and join the program I’ve been eyeing off for some time – BODY by Finch! I need to invest in let someone else do all the planning for me so I can just focus on doing the doing to see the end of the year finish on a high.
An end of year gift
I’m going to tell you more about why I chose this program, but if this sounds like something you’d be keen to jump on board with too – Rach has kindly offered a code for 20% for the lifetime of your membership – just enter the code ‘AMY4BODY’ when you checkout!
The BodyByFinch Program
Starting in November, I’ve decided to sign up to the BodyByFinch health and wellness program. There are so many reasons I’ve gone with this program over all the other programs on offer, the fact that I love Rach and everything she does is only a small part of it! She’s collaborated with some of my favourite health professionals to make sure her program is balanced, holistic and most of all, SUSTAINABLE!
Balancing Mind, Body and Wellness
This program incorporates the essential balance of healthy eating, exercise and mental health. You can’t get all the benefits of one without including the others.
The workouts
As a lover of endorphins, this is the part of the program that I am most excited about. There are daily workout routines that include BODYwork, BODYtone and BODYstretch sessions. They’re also bonus sessions that include dance workouts with Rach’s hubby Michael who is a professional dancer. I am super excited about these – you know how much I LOVE zumba!
Workout anytime, anywhere
The workouts are all available online so I can do them any time that suits me, whether I’m at the gym or at home! I even tried a couple before I caught my early flight down to Melbourne last week, hello 4.30am online workout! Quite handy really!
The meals
Jes Cox is one of my favourite nutritionists. Her tag line is ‘diet doesn’t work, nutrition does’. Can I get a ‘hell yeah!’? That is a philosophy am on board with. Included in the program is a daily meal plan, which is created by Jessica Cox, a nutritionist who I know personally and whose knowledge and recommendations I trust! It is so important to make sure that the sources you are obtaining your health information from are reliable and accredited, Jess is both.
I can go into this program with the full knowledge that I will be meeting all my bodies nutritional requirements with the meal plan! Plus, if you’re not keen on the scheduled meal plan, Jes has alternatives ready to suggest for you so even the fussiest of eaters can make progress towards nourishing their body well.
If you want a taste of what’s on offer, check out this simple raw brownies recipe Rachael and I made from her program.
Shopping lists written for you
I did my first shop last night and it was super easy with a prewritten shopping list that I could check boxes for as I bought them or found the goods in my fridge or pantry – SO easy!
The Mind
The mindfulness sessions are genuinely the part of the program that I think I will get the most benefit from. This area is where I struggle in balancing and managing my health. I find it difficult to ‘turn off’ with all the pressures of the day crowding in on me. Do you ever feel like that? I feel that I have such a high level of residual stress that has built up throughout this year.
Personally, I also use mindfulness sessions for prayer and scripture meditation, to realign my perspective and cultivate gratefulness for this life I’ve been given. Meditation and mindfulness sessions also build self-confidence and positivity, there are benefits for everyone!
The Community Support
Are you good at self-motivation or do you need people around you to help push you along? I’m the latter, I really benefit from external support and encouragement from those around me to meet my goals. That is why I am excited to be a part of the Body By Finch community Facebook group, a space where women like me can join together to encourage one another to keep doing their best for their health! Along with extra support from the Bod By Finch team! Bring it on!
Over the next 6 weeks (perhaps longer if I love it!) I will be taking part in the Body By Finch program. I’ll be doing the workouts, following the meal plan and taking part in the mindfulness sessions. PLUS I’ll be sharing about my experience here on the blog, but more frequently on through my Instagram account, @EatPrayWorkout. I’ll share the good and the bad, the exercise sessions I absolutely love and the times where I might not quite be able to follow every meal plan but what I might have substituted instead.
Don’t wait until the new year, let’s do this together and finish the year strong!
Better than just watching me do the program, come along on the journey with me! There are 8 weeks until Christmas so let’s put our best foot forward together and finish the year strong! There is still time to kick those goals this year. You don’t need to wait until January to start valuing and caring for your wonderful, beautiful body and mind.
