If you follow me on instagram, no doubt you would have seen, my Dad is in town! He flew in from Sydney yesterday morning and we had the best day together, starting at my favourite cafe for breakfast – Delicatezza. Delicatezza is a darling little deli/cafe in Blackwood Street, Mitchelton. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is furnished really well – lots of contrasting textures – wood, cane and metal. The tables always have a small posy of flowers which combined with cushioned benches makes you feel a little like you’re eating in someone’s home rather than a cafe.
Delicatezza has the best corn fritters – in fact, they were the inspiration for my healthy gluten free fritters I made a few weeks ago. There was no need for me to look at the menu, I knew what I wanted! The relish that accompanies it is really flavorsome.
Dad ordered the ciabatta toast with roast onion jam, aoili, smoked bacon, tomato, spinach, egg and avocado. I stole a bite and it was divine!
The main down side to this cafe is it closes too early:
Tuesday—Friday: 7:30 am—3:00 pm
Coffee was good, but not amazing. Food is worth it though! Find the menu here.
