Today I want to share with you about thoughts on my first pair of Kayanos (ASICS Women’s Gel Kayano 21). Before this I ran in ASICS GT 2000’s but I’ve quite enjoyed the change. To find out more about these – including what type of training they are best for, read on!
My running shoe history
Kayano’s are the top of the line in ASICS running shoes. Before wearing these I had two pairs of GT2000’s and you can read my review on the ASICS GT 2000 here (also very good & I never had a problem with them, but less gel cushioning). In my experience if you’re running long distance, or like additional cushioning and support the Kayano’s are well worth it.
About ASICS Women’s Gel Kayano 21
The ASICS Women’s Gel Kayano 21 are a well weighted shoe; that is, not too heavy that it’s noticeable when you run, but not so light that there is a lack of support. They have a slight role between the heel and toe which allows for good acceleration during running. There’s a range of colours you can choose from in both mens and woman’s and they bring out a new version each year. If you only have a small budget, sometimes you can pick up last seasons shoe for a more affordable price.
Where to buy
This pair of ASIC’s Women’s Gel Kayano 21 were gifted to me by The Next Pair, you can find these shoes on their site for $194.95 reduced from $250.00 here. I love this store because there are great sales and it’s Australian based – meaning quick shipping!
Are Kayano’s suitable for gym work?
You can see these shoes in action during my HIIT Total Body workout. Whilst I love Kayanos for running and do think their stability is great for gym work, I probably prefer a slightly lighter and slimmer shoe for the type of training you’ve seen in my recent workout printables. I’ve been looking at getting some Mizunos for this purpose.
