I’m not very adventurous when it comes to make up – in fact the same routine is applied pretty much anytime my face needs to be brought back to life. It is nice to make time to look after yourself and break the usual ‘slap on some colour in the car’ routine. So to inspire us, I’ve invited Emily from the blog Why Hello Beauty to share with us her tips and tricks on achieving a flawless nude day and night makeup look. I’ve also created a Pinterest board with some of my favourite nude looks to inspire you. Welcome Emily!
Hello! I’ve created some looks similar to the images below (the first one is me!). I hope you these nude make up tips and please tag me in any of your selfies, I’d love to see your pretty faces! Come say hi at whyhellobeauty.com too.

Nude Makeup: DAY
Base
A sheer to medium coverage BB cream set with pressed powder works best for this look. Try a BB cream by Garnier, Maybelline or Rimmel which you can find at any chemists or a Priceline.
Eyes
Grab an eyeshadow pallet like the below pictured too faced The Return of Sexy pallet. Start with using the gold or pinkish based shades and once you’re confident, add in smudges of the darker shades but always keep it looking natural.
Think soft and neutral with all the definition placed around the eye line. Try using one eyeshadow shade on the eye with it blending seamlessly into the skin and highlighted brows. For something a little extra, add an extra shade in the outer corner which will add extra definition and contour. See the below images for reference.
A – Apply shadow #1 on the eye lid itself and blend.
B – If you’re feeling adventurous, add a second eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye and blend, blend, blend! Note: *** is where the darkest shades should always be sitting.
C – Apply a cream highlight or highlight stick (like Kelley Baker Brows Cream Highlight) and buff out to accentuate the eyebrow and give a sheen to the area. Fill in your eyebrows with something like PONi Cosmetics Brow Magic Pencil.
D – Smudge a little gold shimmer in the corner of your eye for prettiness. Don’t forget lashings of mascara!
E – Additionally, smudge a little of the darkest shade underneath the eye for a glamourous finish.
CHEEKS
When applying blush for this look, keep the blush on the coral side rather than pink which will add to the naturally pretty nude look. Try Arbonne’s blush in Dusty Rose which is just gorgeous.
LIPS
Even if you aren’t a fan of Kylie Jenner’s massive (!) lips, you can’t deny the fact that she has been rocking some fabulous nude shades of late! Think soft browns, muted pink/ purples and soft nudes.
Nude Makeup: NIGHT
This is when you can go more for drama by accentuating the eyes further and also adding a darker lip colour in a neutral shade. You can use up to three eyeshadow colours around the eyes, ensuring you keep the eyebrows clean, crisp and gently highlighted. Darken your brows that little bit more and your lashes voluminous.
A nude natural look has many variations so don’t be scared to play around with hues, you can always wash it off!
