Remember when I told you to save the date for the Sunshine Coast Real Food Festival? Well I hope you did and enjoyed the day as much as I did! If not, there’s always next year. Here’s a little sneak peak of what the event entails…
Local farmers attend standing proud next to their colourful produce, willing to answering any questions and giving the best advice about what’s in season, how to know when certain products are ripe or what types of recipes that produce works best in.
There were so many raw desserts…needless to say, I was in HEAVEN. Not only did we eat them, but we learnt how to make some in a raw cooking demonstration! I also purchased a raw cookbook for more inspiration, so now I feel like I’m really in the know! Yes, I can bring you into this circle of delightfully nourishing desserts too…keep watching zee blog for my own creations (please sign up via email subscription on top right of the home page to make sure you don’t miss out!).
It was delightful to see all ages getting involved and having an enjoyable day out. This young boy was very determined to understand about how The Bee Man’s Bees made honey (look at his little eyes – full of curiosity!). There were lots of other activities for the kids to – animal farms, learning to grow vegetables and jumping from hay bale to hay bale, just to name a few!
The photo below is evidence that some girls start their love for bags at a young age…. whilst I’m a shoe girl (read more about that here), I must say to her I can understand the attraction honey.
Have you noticed that pulled pork is the new food craze at the moment? I’ve been wanting to make it for a while. Until I have time though, these little burgers were not being passed by my lunch radar!
Or the array of delicious and reasonably healthy desserts for that matter…
Every second person seemed to ask us where the coffee was! I thought many of the attendees would agree with this mantra:
We were blessed enough to be invited to attend on media passes for EPW, however I feel for what was on offer it was definitely worth the entry $20 entry fee! It was lovely to meet the locals and my knowledge of buying and cooking with fresh and local produce grew ten fold!
Maleny, you will see us back again soon! See our other trips to the beautiful hinterland town of Maleny here, here and here.
