In Sydney this morning there is an eery sadness and shock as 17 people were held hostage overnight in the Lindt Cafe, Martin Place. Two of whom have died. It makes me feel sick that such an act has occurred in my home city. Emotions are bubbling over with many feeling angry that someone whom sought asylum here has committed such a horrific crime in our safe city.

It is fully justified to feel angry about such a despicable act of horrendous violence and terror. The Sydney Siege is disgusting and not acceptable by any standard. HOWEVER, it is important to be aware of how this affects your thoughts and subsequent actions. Do not let it extend beyond this crazy manto the rest of our muslim community or those who come to Australia seeking asylum.
It is important that Australia upholds our famous characteristic of ‘mateship’ despite the religion, language or look of another. It is obvious and well known that very few Muslims and asylum seekers commit such horrific crimes. Remember that. Do not harden your hearts. It is what would make this hate-filled man happy. Keep on loving, dear Australia.

this is a nice post it is a shame to see a similar thing happened in Paris. The world has gone crazy. Or the crazies have too much power because of technology....
A bit of both perhaps? technology and globalisation has certainly allowed such ideals to spread internationally and ease = of access to weapons due to increased technology and mass production via privatisation has not assisted. My heart goes out to those families of both Sydney Siege victims and those victims in Paris.
