We are constantly being influenced and shaped by the culture around us, by what we hear, see AND scroll through. Have you ever thought about how what you look at shaping you? If like me, you’re a frequent user of social media it’s likely that this is having a big impact on what and how you think about yourself and others, and like anything, this impact can be positive or negative. Interestingly, our Instagram feed can even impact your diet and your activity levels. It may sound silly, but think about it. If you’re scrolling past chocolate mousse and loaded fries all day you’re more likely to go out and get yourself that sugary or salty hit. Similarly, if you’re feed is full of healthy, active influences you are much more likely to make time for making a wholesome meal or getting some activity in your day. So, with that in mind, I’ve put together a list of my top ten Australian Instagram Fitness accounts to freshen up you feed and positively influence your mindset and activity levels. These gals have a realistic approach to fitness and they are good at what they do, so have a look through and choose a couple to add to your feed!
The top 10 Australian fitness accounts to follow on Instagram
So, here’s my favourites! Hope you enjoy them too 🙂 Don’t forget, even though these are fantastic accounts, if any social media account leaves you feeling inadequate or causes you to think negative thoughts about yourself, make sure you unfollow. The mind can be sneaky and take even the most positive accounts to be a trigger for our own insecurities. Be aware of your thoughts when on social media (good and bad) and what triggers them – this is key to your success as you improve your health and fitness.
Base Body Babes

These Sydney based sisters, Base Body Babes, want you to become fitter, healthier, happier and stronger. They specialise in strength and circuit style resistance training for women. You can read an interview I did with them a couple of years ago here.
Two Minute Moves

Fitness guru Lizzy Williamson of the Today Show is the author of ‘Two Minute Moves’. Through her Instagram, TwoMinuteMoves, Lizzy, with her huge grin, demonstrates how you can fit movement into everyday chores. Think squats while you hang the washing, heel raises when you do the washing up and bicycles while you scroll through Insta in bed! This account is a great one for everyday motivation and for squeezing in those little moments of activity into an overcrowded schedule. Every bit counts! Her book is also a fantastic guide.
Tanya Poppett

Sydney based trainer Tanya Poppett shares workout videos and routines that are best for women who consider themselves at an ‘intermediate to advanced’ fitness level. I find her workouts so challenging and inspiring because her technique is always perfect! Plus she has lots of workout ideas you can do at home with no equipment, so that’s a tick in my book. Tanya is also about to give birth (literally any day now!) and has put together a guide on her blog for pregnant women’s fitness, a fantastic resource! One day I hope to train with her and learn more from her, we’ve been trying to get a session in together for forever but with my instate moves and kids, it’s been difficult to find time! For now, I’ll keep training with her on her app!
Tanya’s app
Now this app is well worth checking out and I even have a code to give you 10% off any subscription package (NB reoccurring at the original price). All you have to do is:
1)Head over to https://tanya.plankk.com
2) Select the monthly subscription option
3) Enter ‘Amy10‘ code at sign up
4) Finish creating your account
5) Download the train with Tanya app from the App Store, and sign in with the same email and password you used to create the account.
Monique Craft

Founder of the strength and cardio interval workout, ‘Barrys Bootcamp’, Monique Craft’s instagram account is great for motivational fitness quotes, inspiration with instructional workout video’s (often in glamorous locations) scattered inbetween. She has a fantastic outlook on life and a smile to match!
Kirsty Godso

Kirsty Godso is a Nike Master Trainer, an impressive title and with good reason – when she posts workouts on her Instagram account they are next level! If you’re interested in technique this girl has got it, her form during her workouts is always perfect!
AmyLee Gianotti

Amy Lee Gianotti is a Dietitian and a fitness coach. If you follow her Instagram account you’ll get fitness advice AND qualified health advice from a Dietitian – the perfect combo! Her posts often include notes on the benefits of exercise for your body and overall health, which for me, is the best motivation for exercise. She also shares quite personally about her own health journey, which makes her account even more inspiring and relatable.
Rebecca Gawthorne
Rebecca from Nourish Naturally is a dietitian and good friend of mine! She loves to stay fit and healthy and shares her science backed nutrition advice along side encouraging others to stay active. One realistic approach from a passionate, knowledgable, gorgeous girl!
Revie Jane

Mama’s, this one’s for you! It can be particularly difficult to get up and going with a little one, but Revie Jane, who is a mother of two little ones, shows you ways you can do this. I love that she shared her post-partum exercises and the ‘returning to exercise’ journey. She is honest and real about the mental battles that go along with it!
Elliot Mae

Elliot Mae, a 25 yr old from Melbourne, is also a great account to follow for some inspiration. She regularly posts workout routines (with and without equipment) with video demos, tips for techniques and ways to challenge yourself in your routine.
Emily Skye Fit
Emily is a mother of one and has a huge fitness empire! She is real in sharing her motherhood journey, life struggles and victories and is very inspiring in the way she encourages others.
So there you go ladies! That’s the round-up of my top ten fitness accounts to follow on Instagram. I might not follow all of them at the same time, but I always include a few to make sure that I’m regularly thinking about my health and fitness and how I can change things up in my workout and keep my mindset around fitness healthy and fun focussed. How are you going to be intentional about shaping the feed that shapes you?
